Foundation Launches Champions Club
Celebrity Endorsements Support
Critical Programs
Detroit, MI - March 15, 2010 - The Detroit Public Schools Foundation (DPSF)
announced the official launch of a new marketing program engaging key
celebrities, professionals and Detroit Public Schools (DPS) Alumni in a drive
to support programs for DPS students.
The Champions Club initiative has already enlisted
notable Detroiters, Michiganders and other concerned celebrities, like jazz
musician Jason Marsalis, author Terry McMillan, vocalist Freda Payne and
comedian and Cass Tech alumni David Alan Grier.
Video clips endorsing DPSF have been
launched on facebook, YouTube and soon will appear on the newly revamped DPSF
website at wadded

DPSF President and CEO Chacona Johnson
sees the approach as critical to increasing awareness of DPSF. “We envision
this initiative as a means of engaging a wide group of interested people who
see value in Detroit’s schoolchildren,” notes Johnson. “We hope to grow the Champions
Club to accommodate
the legions of accomplished DPS graduates and friends who can inspire Detroit
students and supporters.”
The mission of the DPSF is to raise, manage and
steward funds and other resources to support value-added programs and
activities for the benefit of the Detroit Public Schools and its students. DPSF is a 501 ©3 non-profit operating
independently of the Detroit Public Schools. Visit http://www.detroitpsfoundation.org
